Craiova, city of Christmas in Romania. How to get by plane train

Craiova

Fifth largest city in Romania, Craiova is a splendid town with a rich historical, cultural and religious heritage.
The city in fact boasts the presence of a large number of churches and places of worship.

The squares, the fountains and its charming historic center are beautiful. Do not miss its Piața Mihai Viteazul, with its Musical Fountain in summer and the ice rink in winter.

Its park “Nicolae Romanescu” is rightly considered the most in all of Romania. A real natural treasure with lakes, bridges, animal species and beautiful architecture.

A city to be discovered also, and above all, at Christmas. Its Christmas markets are among the most beautiful in Europe. At least according to what is indicated by Best European Destination!

HOW TO GET TO CRAIOVA

AIRPLANE

Wizz Air guarantees direct connections with some European destinations, including Barcelona, London, Mardrid, Paris-Beauvais and Rome.
The international airport is located about 7 kilometers away from the center and is almost exclusively the base for Wizz-Air flights.

Bucharest represents a valid alternative to reach Craiova. The capital’s airport, the most important in the whole country, is well connected with the main European destinations.

TRAIN

The Central railway station is located near Piața Constantin Brâncuși, about 2 kilometers east of the center.
The infrastructures are still quite limited and not very modern, which is why arriving by train is not exactly the best.
Connections are quite frequent with the capital, with about 15 trips a day. The train takes just over 3 hours to get to your destination and tickets cost around €12.

BUS

Reliable and, above all, economical alternative to get to Craiova with prices almost halved compared to the train.
There are approximately 2 connections every hour with Bucharest and 2 trips a day to / from Calafat and Piteşti.
The main bus station (Autogara Nord) is located right in front of the central railway station.
