Considering the extension, Burgos can be easily explored on foot. The major monuments and places of interest, in fact, are concentrated in a short distance. Of course, not all of them!
In our opinion, the best way for getting around Burgos is by bicycle. Public transport, on the other hand, is ideal for getting around peripheral areas.

BUS
The road system is quite efficient. There are 30 bus lines that connect the center and the outermost areas. The service is active every day, including Sundays and holidays from early morning to late evening. The ORDINARY ticket can be purchased directly on board, at a cost of €1.00; it is valid for a single trip and must be validated at the time of use.
The city public transport system is managed by the Ayuntamiento de Burgos. The buses are generally active from around 06:40 until 22:30. Times vary depending on the line. For all the info, you can consult the official website, through this link. In the section “Plano general de Líneas de Bus Urbano de Burgos”, you can download the complete transport map for getting around Burgos; inside, the frequencies and times of each line are indicated.
GETTING AROUND BURGOS BY BIKE
Bicibur is a valid initiative of the Ayuntamiento de Burgos to promote sustainable mobility. In fact, you can rent a bike in one of the many points located in the city. It is really well organized and with 3 different rates to take full advantage of this service:
- 24h: € 3
- 48h: € 5
- One Year: € 15
Operation is pretty straightforward. You can rent a bike and use it for a maximum of two hours; after that, the bike must be delivered to one of the many points in the city. After 30 minutes, you can rent another one, keeping it for two hours. And this, for 365 days from the first use; 24 hours on 24!
