Vendicari Reserve. How to get to the beautiful protected oasis

Vendicari Reserve

Vendicari ( Nature Reserve oriented to the Fauna Oasis ) is one of the places not to be missed on holiday in the wonderful eastern Sicily.

Officially established in 1984, the Vendicari Reserve is a beautiful protected natural area located between Noto and Pachino.

In addition to the extraordinary naturalistic and landscape heritage, in the Reserve you can admire historical and archaeological monuments of great value, such as the Torre Sveva or the Tonnara.

The main protagonists, however, are its splendid beaches, literally besieged by tourists (especially during the month of August). The most famous, from north to south, are Eloro, Marianelli, Calamosche and Tonnara Beach.

HOW TO GET TO THE VENDICARI RESERVE

There is no way to reach the Reserve and the beaches by public transport.
Cars and motorbikes are the only means of getting there.

The Provincial Road 19 gives access to the Reserve. The beaches and points of interest are almost all well signposted. In some circumstances (Calamosche) you will find signs written on the walls that will help you find the area.
Of course, maps on smartphones are always excellent allies!

All access areas have parking, managed by private entities. Generally the cost is between € 3.50 and € 5. Often the fare also includes a small drink of your choice.

GETTING AROUND THE RESERVE

Within the Vendicari reserve you can only move on foot.
To reach the beaches (except San Lorenzo) you always have to allow for about twenty minutes.

The paths are not particularly hard and can be easily tackled even by children (obviously with the utmost caution).
