To travel on Slovenian motorways and expressways, you need to purchase the appropriate vignette, or Vignette Slovenia. This is a special prepaid mark, mandatory for all vehicles up to 3.5 tons in weight. This badge must also be purchased only for crossing a short Slovenian motorway section.
Therefore, even if Slovenia should not be the destination of your hypothetical on the road itinerary, Vignette Slovenia will still be purchased for the sole fact of having to cross the territory.
As of 01 January 2022, the adhesive version to be attached to the windshield has been definitively abolished, replaced by a more modern electronic edition. Hence, the new denomination of e-vinjeta.
Compared to the Austrian and, above all, the Swiss version, it is cheaper.

PRICES AND TYPE
La Vignette Slovenia is available in four types, and costs vary according to your vehicle.
- Annual (valid from 1 December of the previous year to 31 January of the following year). It costs €220 for vehicles up to 3.5 tons and height equal to or greater than 1.3 meters (Class 2B); €110 for vehicles up to 3.5 tons and height less than 1.3 meters (Class 2A); €55 for two-wheeled vehicles (Class 1).
- Six-monthly (valid for 6 months from the date of purchase). It costs €30 and is available, in this cut, ONLY FOR MOTORCYCLES (Class 1).
- Monthly (valid from the day of purchase, and expires the same day of the following month). It costs €60 for vehicles up to 3.5 tons and height equal to or greater than 1.3 meters (Class 2B); €30 for vehicles up to 3.5 tons and height less than 1.3 meters (Class 2A); Not available for two-wheeled vehicles (Class 1).
- Weekly (valid for seven consecutive days starting from the day of the puncture). It costs €30 for vehicles up to 3.5 tons and height equal to or greater than 1.3 meters (Class 2B); €15 for vehicles up to 3.5 tons and height less than 1.3 meters (Class 2A); €7.50 for two-wheeled vehicles (Class 1).
Please note that the toll of Vignette Slovenia electronic DOES NOT DEPEND ON THE DISTANCE TRAVELED.
WHERE TO BUY THE ELECTRONIC VIGNETTE SLOVENIA
With the introduction of the e-vinjeta, the payment system has also been simplified. Just connect to the official DARS website and follow a few simple steps. You will need to enter the type of vehicle, the license plate, your email address and the start of validity of the evinjeta. Major credit cards and payment systems are accepted, including wire transfers.
IMPORTANT: it will be your responsibility to make sure that the number plate inserted is the correct one: otherwise it is as if you had not purchased anything. In case of control, you will be subject to a fine ranging from €300 to €800! Keep in mind that checks are quite frequent throughout the network.
