For driving in Slovakia, and drive on certain stretches road and motorway, it is necessary to purchase the appropriate vignette, or Slovak Vignette. This is a special prepaid electronic tag, mandatory for all vehicles up to 3.5 tons in weight. This badge must also be purchased only for crossing a short stretch of road.

The Slovak Vignette is available in three different denominations, which vary according to the duration from a minimum of 10 days to a maximum of one year. In the case of a trailer, a second Vignette must be purchased, of the same type and price.

La Vignette is sometimes referred to as E-Vignette, as it is an electronic vignette. As soon as the payment is made, your car license plate will be automatically registered in the Eznamka.

PRICES AND TYPOLOGY

Vignette Slovakia is available in three different denominations for vehicles up to 3.5 tonnes. As mentioned, in case you have to travel with a trailer, the purchase of a second Vignette is mandatory. Motorcycles are all exempt from payment. Here, below, prices and types:

• 10-DŇOVÁ. Valid for 10 days from first use. It costs €10.00.
• 30-DŇOVÁ. Valid for 30 days from first use and costs €15.00.
• ROČNÁ. Annual pass, valid until January 31st of the year following purchase. It costs €50.00.

ROADS AND VEHICLES

In total, there are over 620 kilometers of road where the purchase of the badge is mandatory: the motorways D1, D2, D3 and D4 , and numerous sections along the  R1, R2, R4 and R6.

Motorcycles and vehicles up to 3.6 tons must compulsorily purchase the electronic badge, even for the sole crossing of Slovak territory.
