Here are some valuable information on the climate and the best time to go to Hungary.
The country, in general, is characterized by a predominantly continental climate with cold winters and predominantly hot summers. Temperatures range from a minimum of -20° to a maximum of 40°.
Everywhere, winter is basically cold, with temperatures just below zero, from late November to early March. January is the coldest month. Sometimes, the icy winds coming from Russia, bring down the mercury column under the 20 degrees!
Snowfall is frequent, but not abundant.
The gray sky is a common characteristic of all Hungary in this period.
Spring becomes quite pleasant starting from the middle of April, while autumn is mild and still sunny close to the summer period. This is also the season with the most abundant rainfall.
Summer, almost everywhere, is quite hot, with sunny days, and temperatures that get longer. Especially in July and August, where there are particularly sultry days.
Pay attention to the temperature range which, in the evening, leads to a drop in temperatures. The climate, at night, is quite cool and requires appropriate clothing; pack at least one jacket or sweatshirt. And don’t forget even an umbrella, or raincoat: afternoon thunderstorms are frequent.

BEST MONTH TO GO TO HUNGARY
The best month to go to Hungary is without a doubt September or, alternatively, May and June. These are periods when the temperatures are really pleasant to visit the cities, and go hiking.
In Winter, December remains a very interesting period for the evocative Christmas markets. Budapest, all lit up, shows its most fascinating side.
THE WORST MONTH
January is one of the coldest months. With Christmas just around the corner, this is not an ideal time to go to Hungary. Even February and November, in our opinion, are not ideal for a trip to the Magyar land.
