Here are some valuable information to drive in Denmark.
As always, we recommend following some basic and universal rules: always respect the speed limits. Avoid driving in Denmark after drinking alcohol: the limit is 0.5 g/l. Zero tolerance throughout the country. The checks are quite frequent. Keep in mind that there are restrictions even after taking medicines.

The fines are quite high.
In case of infringement, fines must be paid immediately.

BASIC RULES TO DRIVE IN DENMARK

In the country you drive on the right and you pass on the left. Remember to always respect the safety distance.
It is always necessary to give priority to pedestrians who cross, or are about to cross, a road; even if there are no pedestrian crossings on the ground. Precedence also to cyclists, from these parts rather numerous.
In the event of an accident, you MUST ALWAYS STOP and provide assistance where necessary. It is mandatory to provide personal details.

DOCUMENTS TO DRIVE IN DENMARK

Driving license, registration certificate and valid insurance certificate. If you are driving a vehicle that is not your own, we recommend that you take a DELEGATION TO CONDUCT. This is a delegation of the vehicle owner with an authenticated signature. It is not mandatory.

VEHICLE EQUIPMENT

The seat belts must be fastened on all seats, front and rear.
On two wheels, the helmet is mandatory for driver and passenger.
By car it is mandatory to have a triangle and a self-reflecting vest. The first-aid kit, fire extinguisher and fuses are strongly recommended, but not mandatory.
The bright headlights are always on, day and night.

ROADS AND SIGNS

Road signs are typical international ones. If you find white and red triangular signals on the side, or white on the ground, you will always have to give priority to vehicles that travel along the road you are entering.

The infrastructures are extremely modern, efficient and in excellent condition. The motorway network, extending over 1000 km, connects northern and southern Denmark. The Danish highways are identified by the sign with a green background, and the letter E followed by a number. The National Roads are, for the most part, National roads, of similar quality to motorways. They can be identified by a sign with a yellow background and only the number of the black road.

TOLL

On all roads and highways you travel for FREE. The only paid road sections across the country are the Great Belt Bridge (Storebæltsbro) and the bridge over the Øresund (Øresundsbro). The first, is the longest suspension bridge in Europe, and connects Selandia (Zealand) with Fionia (Fyn); the second, instead, links Denmark with Sweden.

The toll for a car up to 6 meters, for crossing the Øresund Bridge is approximately 56€ (410DKK); for motorcycles the price is 29€ (210DKK). The ticket to cross the bridge by train, instead, costs 10€.
For the Great Belt Bridge, cars from 3 to 6 meters pay 34€, and beyond 6m, 51€. Motorcycles without trailers pay, instead, 19€. The train ticket from Nyborg to Korsør, costs 14€.
