Utrecht. How to arrive by train, car, plane from Amsterdam Airport

Utrecht

A town of art with an ancient flavor.

Set off to discover Utrecht, a small town in the heart of Holland, not far from the Capital of the Netherlands. City that develops around the splendid Cathedral, will know how to conquer you thanks to its suggestive charm and its beautiful atmosphere.

Tasty food, entertainment and shopping in the most important Dutch university city.

HOW TO GET TO UTRECHT

Thanks to the proximity with Amsterdam, which is just less than 50 kilometers, the plane is the best, fastest and cheapest way to reach the Dutch city. Train and car are solutions to take into consideration if you want to do more stages.

Utrecht

PLANE

Amsterdam-Schiphol International Airport is just under 50 kilometers from the beautiful Dutch town. The airport is well connected with daily direct flights to the main European and non-European destinations. The airport, highly efficient and avant-garde, has numerous services including the free wifi line. You will find numerous shops, bars and restaurants within it.

Schiphol train station is located right under the airport. Frequent intercity trains connect the airport with the Utrecht Centraal Station in about 30′. The second-class ticket, one way, costs 9.50€. All the info, on the official website, from this link.

Alternatively, you might think of rent a car to reach your destination. There are numerous agencies at the airport.

TRAIN

Utrecht Centraal is the Central Railway Station, one of the focal points of iron links in the Netherlands, Germany and Switzerland. With Italy, there are no direct connections, and the journey is quite long and demanding.

CAR

The distance from the Dutch capital is just 44 kilometers. Remaining in Holland, in less than 70 kilometers you can reach The Hague or Rotterdam; less than 100 kilometers separate Utrecht from Eindhoven instead. Belgium and Northern Germany also have quite limited distances. Antwerp, is just 130 kilometers and Brussels, about 180. Düsseldorf is 200 kilometers and Bremen about 330. Even with Paris the distances are not or are prohibitive: 485 kilometers, crossing Belgium.

For those wishing to reach the city on the road from Italy, in little more than 10 hours (pauses permitting) you reach the city from the Galleria del Gottardo from Milan; or from the Brennero Pass from Bolzano.

The Dutch road and motorway network, like the German, is extremely efficient and, above all, free. Attention, however, to speed limits: there are frequent checks on the entire network.
