Temple Bar
SHOPPING | CONTACT | NEWS | SUBSCRIBE ENG ITA ESP ENG ITA ESP Temple Bar, Dublin. Neighborhood, places. What to do & see. Arrive by bus Temple Bar Share on facebook Share on pinterest Share on twitter Dublin is a magical, truly impressive city. I started to fantasize about this wonderful city thanks to U2. I was won over by the Irish band, after listening to wonders like “War” and “Under a Blood Red Sky”. Today, to be honest, U2 just can’t listen to them anymore (sorry if someone can turn up their noses!). However, Dublin always has a special place in my heart. And it is not a question of neighborhoods, monuments, and museums, which, of course, are not lacking. What I love about this city, and Ireland, is the atmosphere. It is something magical and evocative. Stroll along the Liffey. To chat with people. Sip a Guinness in one of the many pubs in the city. (I will not be healthy, but how much I loved the smoke mist that accompanied the pint of beer!). Temple Bar, in fact. In Dublin, for many, it is almost an institution; obligatory stop for the nightlife in the capital, as well as a meeting place for many young people. Although it may be commercial, Temple Bar represents a very successful attempt to redevelop an entire district, following a principle of architectural, social and cultural balance; no phenomenon of fierce commercial massification. Today, the whole area, is a collection of alleys, cafes, bars, theaters and many pubs, including the namesake and super-photographed Temple Bar, or the well-known brand Hard Rock Café. Places, obviously extremely commercial and, in our opinion, avoidable. There are plenty of better options in the area. The neighborhood is also teeming with street artists, trendy galleries, special restaurants, musicians; here, you can breathe art and culture everywhere, thanks to the presence of exhibition spaces and cultural centers, such as the Gallery of Photography, the National Photography Archive or the Irish Film Institute; here, you will find crowds everywhere! HOW TO GET TO TEMPLE BAR the District can be easily reached on foot from the main points of interest in Dublin. The Castle is about a 5-minute walk away. Trinity College and the Cathedral, approximately 10 minutes. TRAM AND BUS You can use the Red Line, getting off at the Four Courts and Jervis stop, on the other side of the Liffey. Cross the famous Ha’Penny bridge and arrive at your destination. Numerous bus lines pass through the famous district of the capital. These include C1, C2, C3, C4, 26, 52, 54, 56, 69, 77, 79, 79A, x25, x27, x28. Grafton Street
SHOPPING | CONTACT | NEWS | SUBSCRIBE ENG ITA ESP ENG ITA ESP Grafton Street. Info about the street of shopping and artists in Dublin Grafton Street Share on facebook Share on pinterest Share on twitter Sráid Graftonè, better known as Grafton Street, is one of the most famous and animated streets in Dublin. It stretches from St. Stephen’s Green to the south, to the gardens of Trinity College to the north. It is an entirely pedestrian street, forbidden to cars and vehicles, with extremely refined “Georgian” style houses and elegant shops: it is not by chance that it is considered the “shopping street” of Dublin. Among other things, in this area, you will find the famous statue of Molly Malone (pictured below), which today is considered the unofficial anthem of the Irish city of Dublin. At Christmas, Grafton Street is truly wonderful. Its decorated windows and its lights are the ideal background for your photos or for a souvenir card. What makes the city even more magical? Well, Dublin is known as the home of U2 … Therefore, it would not be unlikely to meet any band members during this time, in this street; or maybe some street artist. Seeing is believing! Many remember Christmas 2015 quite well, when the U2 leader Bono, along with other Irish musicians such as Hozier and Glen Hansard, took part in the charity acoustic concert, right on the street where he lives. Bono intoned an excerpt from the last album Songs of Innocence to collect donations for the “The Simon Community” association, in favor of the homeless. To all those who love music, in all its “clothes” and its colors, we can only invite you to take a look at the performance that the leader of the Irish band, and its special companions, gave to all those present . An extraordinary performance! There is nothing to say: Dublin is really a city that knows how to excite. In all senses!
