Dancing House

Strange and Curious Places

SHOPPING  |  CONTACT  |  NEWS  |  SUBSCRIBE ENG   ITA   ESP ENG   ITA   ESP Dancing House Prague. How to get, what to do. Curious buildings Dancing House Tančící dům is the name of one of the most original and incredible buildings that you can admire in Prague. Literally it means “Dancing House”, inspired by the two great dancers Fred Astair and Ginger Rogers, represented (metaphorically) by the Stone Tower and the Glass Tower. Just like their dance step, the two towers meet, creating a truly magical and evocative union. A building, now home to the Dutch National Offices, which blends perfectly with the surrounding architecture. The Dancing House stands in the center, where, years ago, there was a building bombed during the war, in February 1945. In the 1990s the land was bought by the Nationale Nederlanden who entrusted the construction project to the architect Vlado Milunic and to the designer Frank O. Gehry. Since 1996 it has been possible to admire this extraordinary building. In 1996, the year of its inauguration, the building was awarded the Design of the Year award by the well-known American magazine “Times”. Today, it represents one of the unmissable stops on holiday in Prague. PRACTICAL INFO HOW TO GET TO THE DANCING HOUSE Tančící dům is located in the city center, in Nové Město, in the Prague 2 area. The building is easily accessible by public transport. A few minutes’ walk away is the Jiráskovo náměstí stop for Tram lines 5, 9, 12, 15, 17, 20, 98 and 99. Alternatively, you can opt for buses 176 and 910. TIMETABLE AND WHAT TO SEE The truly unique architecture is a wedding invitation to admire the outside and take great selfies. Inside, however, there are some offices, a bar and a restaurant with an adjoining panoramic terrace (not exactly cheap). You can visit the observation deck by making a reservation (mandatory) on the official website. The ticket costs 150CZK for those aged 12 and over. The building also hosts several temporary exhibitions throughout the year. The gallery is open daily, usually from 09:00 to 19:00. Ticket prices vary depending on the exhibition. *All that is contained herein is for purely indicative purposes only and should not be considered official. Appointments may be subject to change. Antiques, quite famous in these parts … All this awaits you at the Braderie de Lille, one of the best known events in France. A colorful, convivial, festive event that fully reflects the spirit of the city and its inhabitants. An event with very ancient origins: traces can be found in official documents as early as the 12th century! Photo ©, PIERRE ANDRE LECRERCQ Braderie de Lille is, above all, the most famous flea market in the country. One of the most exciting events of the Catalan spring originates from this ancient legend: the Setmana Medieval. In 1987, the first representation of that event took place at the Plaza Mayor. Since then, the party has expanded, obtaining a following of not indifferent fans. And also numerous awards. Despite its success, Montblanc Medieval Week has managed to retain its popular character, remaining rooted in its roots and tradition. The event takes place every year during the two weekends during which the anniversary of the Patron Saint, the 23rd April falls. The Setmana Santa program is really rich. Among the unmissable events, the representation of the legend of Saint Jordi, and the splendid Medieval Market. We are sure you will not be disappointed by this fantastic review. Seeing is believing.
