The dawn of happiness.
This literally means the term Sukhothai (also Sukotai) which identifies this Thai village of just 15,000 souls.
Formerly the first capital of the kingdom of the same name (which encompassed present-day Laos and the western part of Thailand), it owes its (tourist) fortunes mainly to the presence of the wonderful historical park.
In addition to the monument included in the UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Thai city boasts beautiful temples, statues and monuments scattered everywhere. Ramkhamhaeng National Park and Museum, Sri Satchanalai National Park, Royal Palace and Wat Mahathat.
In addition, there is no shortage of impressive international events such as Loi Krathong.

HOW TO GET TO SUKHOTHAI
The Thai town has a small regional airport, just over 30 kilometers away from the center.
The best way to get there is certainly by plane, the only one capable of covering approximately 400 kilometers from the capital in about an hour.
From Suvarnabhumi International Airport there is a direct flight operated by Bangkok Airways.
The bus from Bangkok takes about 8 hours!
Once you arrive at the airport, you can comfortably reach the city by taxi or minivan. The latter has a far from excessive cost and is suitable for more people and in case you are carrying large enough luggage. The cost is around 650/700 baht, equal to about €18.
WHEN TO GO
The climate in Thailand is pleasant almost all year round. The best time to go to Sukhothai is probably in November during the twelfth month of the Thai lunar calendar. In this period, moreover, you can admire the Lantern Festival.
January and February are also ideal months for a vacation.
