Beyond the myth and the legend of Vlad Tepes, you will discover a truly beautiful and evocative city, perfectly preserved. A small candy box with tall towers and pastel-colored houses. Many of these have been converted into pensions and restaurants. Of the fourteen original towers, 9 can still be admired.
One day in Sighisoara represents a return to the past. Her citadel, Heritage of Humanity, seems to be literally suspended over time. The main points of interest of your holiday are located within the 12th-century fortress-city. The citadel is reached by climbing the steps from a side street of 1 Decembrie road.

WHAT TO SEE IN ONE DAY IN SIGHISOARA
Turnul cu Ceas, the Clock Tower, immediately catches the visitors’ looks. High 60 meters, dates back to half of the ‘300. Inside, there is a small museum that is developed in height, for a total of 8 rooms; you can visit it, climbing the stairs to the top of the Tower. Beautiful the view from the top over the whole valley is the city. From here, moreover, you can admire the mechanism of the carillon and the clock.
Pay attention to the queues during the ascent: there is no control regarding the turnout.
Open, from May to September, from Tuesday to Friday, from 09:00 to 17:30; Saturday and Sunday, from 10:00 to 17:30.
From October to April, from Tuesday to Friday, from 09:00 to 15:30; Saturday and Sunday, from 09:00 to 15:30.
The admission ticket costs 15LEI per person.

In the square, it is really beautiful Biserica Mânăstirii, which stands not far from the Clock Tower. A church dating back to the end of the 13th century, rebuilt in Gothic style two centuries later. It fits perfectly with all the context. In the immediate vicinity are the Turnul Fieranirol, with wonderful views of the city, and the inevitable Bust of Vlad Tepes, to the left of Biserica. We are still in the Christmas city of Sighisoara and the presence of Vlad is almost constant. As in the many souvenir shops in the area.

But the best (or worst depending on the case) has yet to come. In what should have been the home of Vlad Tepes, some scoundrels have thought well to set up a couple of rooms with a vampire theme, with coffin and … attached restaurant.
Along the Cositorarlor Road, you will find the House Vlad Dracul Terasa. Outside, the clearly visible sign and image of the Bloodsucker Count. A purely tourist place. You are still on vacation.
And, always in the name of Vlad, is linked to a long exposure of Medieval Weapons Piata Muzeului, open from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10:00 to 15:30.
The past, and history, live in every corner, square and street. Completely along the Road of the House of Vlad, you can reach the unmissable Scara Acoperita. Literally, it means Indoor Staircase. And, in this case, it is wood that covers the stone steps along its entire length. The sign at the entrance to the wooden staircase indicates the year of construction in the 1642.
In the hills, the splendid rises Biserica din Deal. It is a beautiful late Gothic style church with a crypt open to the public. Really enchanting location, with, the only drawback, the payment of 8LEI to access inside!
Do not miss a visit to the neighbor Saxon cemetery on the side of the hill. Imagine visiting it, perhaps, in the middle of winter, with the fog in the hills, the sound of the wind and the crackling of the leaves …. creepy.
If one day in Sighisoara is not enough, we recommend a holiday during the July Medieval Festival. Three days between concerts, performances, shows, folklore and much more. It could be an opportunity to visit Transylvania and some small pearls located nearby. Not to be missed, among other things, a trip out to the picturesque Fortified Church of Biertan, about 30 km away.
