Santorini Airport. How to arrive by direct flight. Connections by bus, taxi

Santorini Airport

Santorini International Airport, one of the largest of the Cyclades Islands, is a small airport near the villages of Kamari and Monolithos, about 7 km from the capital of Santorini, Fira.

As mentioned, the dimensions are rather small: there is only a small Duty-free, a refreshment point, some rental agencies. Very little thing. From 2021, thanks to the modernization plan in agreement with Fraport AG/Copelouzos Group, Santorini Airport can serve 9 airliners at the same time.

Furthermore, FREE wifi is available throughout the building. You can surf with the hotspot directly from your smartphone, within the entire terminal.

SANTORINI AIRPORT – ISLAND CONNECTIONS

SHUTTLE HOTEL

Many accommodations in the area often include a shuttle service from both the port and the airport of Santorini. Before booking your hotel or studios, inquire about the offer. Often, the transfer service can be included in the price, or there is an additional fee (often not very expensive).

BUS

From the airport terminal buses leave for Fira only. The rides are infrequent. In winter the service is almost non-existent. In summer there are up to 10 daily trips:

  • From Santorini Airport, Monday to Friday, 06:25 (first departure), 07:25, 10:10, 11:25, 12:50, 14:10, 15:40, 17:10, 18:40, 20:10 (last run). Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, 4 trips a day at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.
  • From Fira, buses depart from Monday to Friday, at 06:15 (first departure), 07:25, 10:00, 11:15, 12:40, 14:00, 15:30, 17:00, 18: 30, 20:00 (last ride). Saturdays, Sundays and holidays, 4 trips a day at 09:00, 11:00, 13:00 and 15:00.

The ticket for a single journey can only be purchased on board the vehicle, and costs €1.80 per person. Once in Fira, you can move with the other bus lines to reach other destinations on the island.

CAR AND TAXI

Anyone wishing to move around Santorini by car can rent one directly at the airport. It is preferable, however, to proceed in advance to obtain a more advantageous price. Numerous comparators of the different car rental companies are available online.

Taxis, on the other hand, are parked just outside the terminal. The official taxis are gray in color, with a taximeter well on display. They can carry up to 4 people. In the high season, the queues are quite long: it is often convenient to share the journey with other people to speed things up. A basic rate from / to Santorini Airport of 2.51€ is always applied to the price. Surcharges also apply for luggage transport and for travel in the evening and at night.
