Popeye Village in Malta is undoubtedly one of the must-see attractions of the island. Especially if you are on holiday with children.
A truly magical and evocative place capable of capturing the attention of young and old.
Here, many games, activities, entertainment and… lots of sun and sea await you.
The views of Anchor Bay, the bay from which it dominates the village, are nothing short of sensational, with truly wonderful views and colours.
The construction of the Park dates back to the early 80s when it was decided to create a perfect location to host the filming of the Popeye film with a certain Robin Williams and directed by Robert Altman.
The results in terms of takings were very far from the expectations of Walt Disney and Paramount but the set succeeded so well that it was decided to leave it intact and create a real village.
To the delight of all of us, one might say.
Popeye Village is located in Triq Tal-Prajjet, Il-Mellieħa, approximately 25km northwest of the capital and 22km from Sliema.
The car is undoubtedly the most comfortable and fastest way to reach the Popeye Village in Malta.
The bus 101 stops right in front of the Park ticket office. From Monday to Sunday it connects the two terminus of Cirkewwa and Gnejna, passing precisely through the Park.
Line 101 is the only one that connects Popeye Village. If you decide to use public transport, you will almost certainly have to make at least one change, usually in Mellieħa.
