Nuremberg transport tickets
Thanks to the integrated fare system VGN – Verkehrsverbund Großraum Nuremberg, you can use the same Nuremberg transport tickets on buses, trams, undergrounds, S-Bahns and regional trains. The ticket is valid for the Nuremberg and Fürth area.
For those who use the means occasionally, the ideal is a single ticket; the latter is different depending on the number of stops to be made.
Kurzstrecke, is a single ticket for SHORT distances: 2 stops by metro, or 4 by bus and tram. It costs €1.70 for adults, and €0.80 for children up to 14 years. If there are 4 of you, you can save some money by purchasing the 4er-Ticket Kurzstrecke. It is a booklet consisting of 4 Kurzstrecke for as many people. It costs €5.80 for adults and €2.90 for children.

Einzelfahrt, is the single ticket for LONG distances. It is valid for 90 minutes for one round trip; it is possible to interrupt and resume the journey within 90′, as long as you continue in the same direction. It costs €3.20 for adults and €1.60 for children up to 14 years. If there are 4 of you, also in this case, you can save by purchasing the 4er-Ticket Einzelfahrt. It is a booklet made up of 4 Einzelfahrt, for as many people. It costs €11.00 for adults and €5.50 for children.
TagesTicket Solo is the individual day ticket. It costs €8.30 and allows you to move around Nuremberg and Fürth within a day. Only if purchased on Saturday, it is also valid for the following Sunday with the 2 × 1 formula! Families can save money by purchasing the TagesTicket Plus. With this ticket 2 adults and up to 4 under 18 can travel on all means, throughout the day. As for the TagesTicketSolo, if purchased on Saturday, it is also valid for all the following Sunday! It costs €12.30.
Mobicard, on the other hand, is the solution to be considered only in the case of long holidays. It is a subscription valid for 7 days and costs € 26.70. Available in several options.
WHERE TO BUY NUREMBERG TRANSPORT TICKETS
All tickets can be purchased at the vending machines located in the underground and railway stops; outlets displaying the VAG brand; directly by bus.
Please note that tickets must always be validated before embarking on the journey.
On the official website, in the VGN online store, you can buy all types of tickets and season tickets. The latter are exclusive to the online store, and cannot be purchased from automatic machines.
By purchasing simple tickets online, you can take advantage of affordable rates. The Einzelfahrt ticket, for example, costs €2.75 instead of €3.20
