Ljubljana. How to reach the capital of Slovenia. Most beautiful cities

Ljubljana

A little big capital, rich in history and culture.

Ljubljana is a jewel to be discovered, with art galleries, museums and many attractions, most of which are concentrated in the small historic center.
The city of Jože Plečnik, the brilliant architect and urban planner who redesigned the main places in the 1920s.
Recently, his extraordinary works have earned him registration in the UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Thus, today, splendid churches, gardens and bridges can be admired. The latter are a bit of a characteristic element of the capital.
Without forgetting the splendid Castle which with its many, from the top of the hill, looks at the city.

Beautiful and romantic, it offers truly fascinating and evocative views. Both day and night.

HOW TO GET

Ljubljana

The plane is the best solution to cover medium / long range distances.
Brnik International Airport, located in the town of the same name, is only 25 kilometers away from the capital, well connected by bus.

ARRIVING IN LJUBLJANA BY BUS

The main bus station is located near the central railway station. From here, direct connections with Slovenia and the main European destinations are guaranteed.
DBD, Eurobusways, Turanus are some of the transport companies that operate from/to the capital.

From Trieste and Venice it takes approximately 2 and 4 hours respectively.
From Bihać (Bosnia), Budapest and Munich, the journey takes between 6 and 7 hours.

TRAIN

Železniška postaja Ljubljana is the central railway station, located in Trg Osvobodilne, about 15 minutes’ walk from the center, and one kilometer away from the riverside.
A short distance from here is the Railway Museum.
The station is housed in a building from 1848.

From here, connections with the main Slovenian and European cities are guaranteed every day.
From Trieste it takes about 2 and a half hours to arrive by train. Trieste is the main interchange for reaching other Italian cities by train.
For Zagreb the travel times are almost similar. There are at least 4 trips a day with the Croatian capital and a couple with Rijeka, passing through Opatija.

CAR

Ljubljana is well served by the road network and is easily accessible by car. Traffic has to be taken into account, especially at peak times.
If you have not opted for a hotel with parking, in the city you can find space on the strips, at a cost of €0.70 per hour. On Saturdays and Sundays it is generally free.
