Iraklion Nikos Kazantzakis is the main international airport of the island of Crete, second most important, for passenger traffic, in the whole of Greece!

It is located in Nea Alikarnassos, about 5 km east of Heraklion. It is connected, almost exclusively in high season, with the main European and extra-European destinations. IRAKLION NIKOS KAZANTZAKIS CONNECTIONS

TAXI

Taxis await you, numerous, at the exit of the terminal. It is always preferable to agree early, before embarking on the journey. In principle, to reach the center, they should ask around 10,00€ per person. Probable a discount, if you were to travel in 3 or more people.

BUS

Outside the Terminal it is possible to reach, in a few minutes, the bus station. Only one urban line connects the Iraklion Nikos Kazantzakis airport with the city center every day from morning to night. The journey takes about 20 minutes. The races, from Monday to Saturday, are quite frequent; a little less on Sundays and holidays.

Tickets can be purchased directly at the airport, at the appropriate counters. It costs around €2,00.

IMPORTANT: In the middle of summer, especially in August, given the size of the airport and the number of travelers, it is quite likely that you will find a real crowd outside. Arm yourself with a lot of patience and, if you do not have to do it, there is always a taxi alternative.

Once you reach the center of Iraklion, you can reach Chania by bus. The bus runs daily, from 05:30 (first run) to 22:30 (last departure) with runs every hour, from both directions.
The bus runs several stops along the way, including Bali, Rethimnon, Kavros and Georgioupolis. The ticket varies depending on the distance, from a minimum of €1,80 to a maximum of €15,10 (Heraklion-Chania).
