Faro Airport is an important Portuguese international airport, located about 5 kilometers away from the city of the same name. It is also used as a base for exploring the Algarve. The airport is one of the largest in the whole Iberian Peninsula and is particularly active during the seasonal period. Over 6 million passengers pass through Faro Airport every year.
Inside the Terminal, numerous dining options, bars and fast-food restaurants with international gastronomic proposals are available to travelers. You will also find shopping areas, shops and duty-free. The WIFI line is available free of charge for all guests. You will need to connect with your smartphone to the “_VINCI Airports WiFi” network and after accepting the conditions you can surf for FREE.
If you are traveling with small children, there are 6 special changing areas, equipped with changing tables, sinks and everything needed for changing nappies. There are also FREE strollers available to comfortably carry babies up to 15 kilos.

CONNECTIONS FARO AIRPORT – CITY CENTER
From the airport you can easily reach the city of Faro with cars, taxis and public transport.
Proxima manages the public transport of the city of Faro. From the airport there are two bus lines running every day, which both reach the center.
The two lines run from Faro’s Bus Terminal to Praia Beach, passing through the airport. Same terminus, with slightly different paths. The 14 line works, every day, from 07:00 to 17:00, from Faro. The most frequent 16 line is active every day from 05:00 to 23:45, from Faro to the Airport, and from 05:10 to 00:10 in the opposite direction. The ticket for a single ride can be purchased directly on board the vehicle, at a cost of €2.35 per person.
CONNECTIONS FARO AIRPORT – ALGARVE
The best way to get to the main Algarve destinations is by bus to Faro and from there by train. The central railway station is located just 200 meters from the Terminal Rodoviario, that is, the bus station, where the 14 and 16 lines arrive. Once you reach the central station, you can move comfortably by train.
As an alternative to public transportation, you can consider to rent a car, directly at the airport. Of course, in our opinion, the car is the ideal solution for a road trip. Possibly with… an electric car.
Outside the Arrivals Terminal, you will also find numerous taxis. In general, to get to Faro, the fare is around €10.00. Keep in mind that, in case of large baggage, you will have to pay a surcharge.
