WHERE: New Orleans, United States
WHEN: 28 April – 07 May 2023
The New Orleans Jazz Festival is a world-famous event for all fans of the genre. A festival that celebrates not only the music, but all the culture of New Orleans and Louisiana.
It takes place every year between the last week of April and the first week of May. The first edition dates back to 1970, when it was founded by New Orleans Hotel Motel Association, to form the “New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Foundation”. This year, the 50o anniversary is celebrated!
New Orleans and Jazz are now an indissoluble duo. In addition to involving little-known Louisiana performers, over the years he has been able to count on numerous international stars. Prices have also increased significantly over the years.
Not just jazz, though. In fact, the festival embraces blues, R & B, popular music, Afro-Caribbean and even country.

The New Orleans Jazz Festival is a global event that celebrates, as mentioned, an entire culture; it is not by chance that it is the “Jazz and Heritage festival“. As a result, even food and craftsmanship are rightly enhanced. All this, through numerous present stands, where it is possible to taste all kinds of delicacies; foods strictly prepared by hand by local companies with fresh ingredients. Food areas for all tastes and ages: there is in fact also one dedicated exclusively to children.
Instead, three areas are completely dedicated to crafts.
In Congo Square African Marketplace you breathe the air of a real market; Local handicrafts are exhibited. Paintings, sculptures, clothes and more are found in the Contemporary Crafts; in this area you can also attend live artisan performances. In the area Louisiana Marketplace, you will find baskets, photographs and jewelry.
There are also special areas dedicated to Louisiana’s cultural and historical practices.
