An extraordinary event to enjoy … frozen!
From 16 December 2023, Zwolle opens its doors to visitors for one of the world’s most famous events of its kind: The International Ice Sculpture Festival.
Listed as one of the best 5 Winter Festivals in the Netherlands, the International Ice Sculpture Festival takes place at the IJsselhallen in Zwolle. More than 3000 square meters of pure winter fun await you, plus 100 fantastic ice sculptures, with 275,000 kilos of ice and 275,000 kilos of snow.

The works of art, created by the best international artists, are exhibited in the pavilion, with temperatures around -10 degrees. Not suitable for those who were allergic to the cold.

The itinerary is spread over several sections and a main theme whose name has not yet been disclosed. Furthermore, a special Winter Wonderland KinderPlaza has been created for children. A free square with attractions, games and inflatable fairs.

HOW TO GET

Amsterdam it is the starting point to get to Zwolle. The town is just a one-hour train ride from the capital. It can easily be reached with the convenient Intercity from Amsterdam South, or Amsterdam Centraal. After the visit to the Festival, a train will take you to the center of Zwolle for free, just 7 minutes on foot from the IJsselhallen. Ample parking is available near the hotel for those arriving by car.

ZWOLLE ICE SCULPTURES FESTIVAL 2023 TIMETABLES AND TICKETS

The event is open to visitors every day, from Tuesday to Sunday, from 10.00 to 17.00. Closed on Mondays (except 25 December 2023, 02 January, 12 and 19 February 2024) and 01 January 2022.

The ticket can be purchased directly online, or as an alternative at the ticket office at a higher price. You enter at pre-established times and entrances and, precisely for this reason, it is preferable to arrive on site with the already purchased ticket. In this way, in addition to saving money, you will guarantee safe access in the time slot you indicate.

The full ticket costs €19.50, for ages 11 and up. Children between the ages of 4 and 10 pay the reduced rate of €13.50. Free for children up to 4 years of age.

RECOMMENDATIONS

Consider the temperatures, it is advisable to dress with clothes suited to the occasion. Heavy clothes, double socks, gloves, a scarf and a woolen hat: here is the best visitor to the wonderful International Ice Sculpture Festival in Zwolle.
