Celebrate an unusual Christmas. This is what awaits you, visiting the Provins Medieval Christmas. It is one of the most incredible and spectacular events of the Christmas period. An unusual and alternative way is traditional markets.
The frame is really fantastic and suggestive. Provins, in fact, is a wonderful medieval town, south-east of Paris, a world heritage site. UNESCO emphasized the importance of the city from a historical and artistic point of view.
The city is famous for its medieval fortifications, long 1200 meters with 22 towers, built between the 1226 and 1314. And, many, are the monuments and sites of interest.
Imagine a frame like that, beautifully lit up for a party. And then, decorations, trees, living nativity, fantastic trains, icy slopes … That’s why the medieval Christmas Provins is a truly unique event, not to be missed. The beautiful village, opens the doors for one weekend in December: get ready for two fantastic days full of magic.
Organized by the Gardes-Foires de Champagne association, it is the traditional market that takes place in the upper part, at Place du Château and place St-Quiriace. About 40 artisans will make you travel in time. Sale of medieval objects. Traditional dances of the Middle Ages. And, again, jugglers, storytellers, spit-fire and much more. For the whole family.

In the beautiful Collégiale St Quiriace, this beautiful living nativity will make you relive the history of the nativity. It tells the story of St. Francis of Assisi who accompanied his father to the famous Foires de Provins and who was the first to represent the nativity in the 1223. The second part, instead, recalls the foundations of the Christian era. Besides 50 actors, figures, the ox, the donkey, the Three Kings … and the traditional Christmas carols.

Climb aboard a fantastic and incredible steam locomotive in a historic journey and an authentic … journey through time. At 13:30, departure from Gare de Provins, returning at 17:00 from Villiers St Georges. The adult rate of leaves and returns is 25.00€. Children from 6 to 11 years, pay the reduced rate of 10.00€. Free for children up to 5 years old.
These are the traditional markets of the lower part of Provins. You will find a wide range that ranges from objects to gastronomic products. Over thirty stands including buying bijoux, decorations, and culinary specialties such as crêpes, belgian gaufres, hot wine and more.
The street markets take place at the Place du Marechal Leclerc, and on the streets of the center, from Saturday 14th, from 09:30. You will also find shows and lots of entertainment, along with traditional Gourmand markets.
The rich calendar of the Provins Medieval Christmas does not end here. Among the many events and shows on the bill, there is the Advent Calendar in Parthur du Center Culturel et sportif Saint Ayoul. Present, of course, Santa Claus, to which children can leave the inevitable letter. Expected a lot of musical animation. The show only takes place at 17:30, on the following December days: 07, 11, 13, 14, 15, 18, 20 and 21. Free entry.
At Rue du Palais, at 16:00, an appointment with artists and dancers who will entertain the public with Medieval Dances. There will also be street artists and fire eaters, until 21:00.
The FORÊT MAGIQUE AU CENTER AQUATIQUE. is another unmissable appointment of the Provins Medieval Christmas. You will find Santa Claus in an enchanted submarine forest, set up outside the pool. Appointment at the Center Aquatique de Provins, in 51, Route de Nanteuil.
TIMETABLES AND PRICES. Saturday from 18:00 to 20:00. The ticket costs 4.80 € for adults and 3.40 € for children from 3 to 14 years.
Naturally, every Christmas place, to be such, must have a fantastic post to skate. For your Christmas Medieval Provins, you can have fun at the Cultural and Sports Center of Saint Ayoul, where, for three weeks, you can skate on a natural ice rink of well 420 square meters. The track is open for an entire month, from December to January, from the 10: 00 to the 19: 00. On Saturday, the closure is postponed to 21: 00. The price, including skating hire, is 5.00€ for adults, and 4.00€ for children up to 12 years.
