Graffiti, street art Amsterdam NDSM Wharf NDSM WHARF, or Nederlandsche Dok en Scheepsbouw Maatschappij, was one of the best-known shipyards in all of Europe. The industrial area reached its peak in the 60s and 70s before starting a phase of decline which culminated in 1984 with its official closure. Since then there have been nothing left but abandoned warehouses and warehouses. Expo ’98 and careful redevelopment work have given new life to the entire area, transforming it into an evocative and rather singular place, a true point of reference for street art, a true artists’ neighborhood in Amsterdam. The old warehouses and containers remained in their place, perfectly clean and ready to shine in a new light thanks also to the intervention of professional writers. The flooring is the same as years ago, when cranes and shipbuilding passed by. HOW TO GET TO AMSTERDAM NDSM WHARF The so-called artists’ quarter is located on the banks of the IJ river in the Amsterdam Noord area. The neighborhood is easily accessible by public transport. Arriving by ferry is undoubtedly the most fascinating way. Every day there are frequent direct connections to Amsterdam Centraal train station with Line F4. You can use normal GVB tickets. Palacio da Pena

Palacio da Pena

SHOPPING  |  CONTACT  |  NEWS  |  SUBSCRIBE ENG   ITA   ESP ENG   ITA   ESP Palacio da Pena Sintra. How to get, what to see, timetables, tickets Palacio da Pena Palacio da Pena is one of the most admired places in Sintra. Each year it welcomes hundreds of thousands of visitors, ready to admire its unique style, and its colorful exterior. Originally a medieval chapel, the palace expertly mixes different architectural styles and various influences. What is most striking, however, are its splendid colored terraces. And, the beautiful park. It has been part of the UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1995 and, in 2007, it was classified among the Seven Wonders of Portugal. All this to support the historical and architectural importance of this building. The Palace stands on a hill, in a splendid position among the hills, surrounded by dense vegetation. Gardens that contrasts with the flamboyant style of the building. Many of the original elements are perfectly preserved and you can still admire them today in their maximum splendor: the splendid halls and the King’s Chambers; the small chapel; the portal; the Queen’s Terrace (Relógio de Sol), with splendid views and beautiful colors. The park surrounding the palace is also beautiful. It covers about 200 hectares, including shaded paths, avenues, suggestive pavilions and many different species of trees. Visiting the estate in its entirety, and without haste, would take more than half a day. We pass in review the Fountain of the birds, the Templo das Colunas, the Statue of Warrior. You walk uphill for about 10 minutes to reach the Cruz Alta viewpoint. A different path (in our opinion to be preferred) leads to the charming Chalet and Jardim da Condessa d’Edla. You arrive with a walk of about 30 minutes. Therefore, allow for at least an hour and a half between the visit and the return journey (difficult to estimate during a one-day trip to Sintra). The Chalet, built by Elisa Hensler, second wife of King Ferinando II, and Countess of Edla. Interesting construction with manicured gardens. PRACTICAL INFO HOW TO GET From Sintra Station you can reach the Palace on foot, by bus or by car. The latter is highly not recommended due to the difficulty of parking and getting around the city, especially in high season. Bus is the recommended method. The station is located a short distance from the railway station. Line 434, called “Circuito da Pena”, connects Sintra Station, Palacio Nacional, Castelo dos Mouros and Palacio da Pena in a circular route. It is ideal if you plan to visit Sintra in just one day because it reaches the main points of interest. From the historic center, in fact, to reach the Palace, you have to walk uphill for at least an hour, along more or less demanding paths. Not ideal with little time available. PALACIO DA PENA TIMETABLE The Palace is open every day, from Monday to Sunday, including holidays, from 09:30 to 18:30. The gardens close at 7pm. Admission is allowed up to 30 minutes before the closing of the building. The ideal time for the visit is just open, at 09:30, and after 17:00 (if you don’t have the same-day return ticket to Lisbon). The peak times, where there is the greatest flow of visitors, are around 10:30, when they arrive mostly by tourist buses, and in the early afternoon, after 15:00, when tourists flock to after having lunch in the Center. Historical. Buy tickets directly online to avoid queues at the entrance. On the official website you can download the complete map of the entire area to your device. TICKETS You can choose between two types of tickets: Parque+Palacio and Parque. The latter is the cheapest solution, as well as the favorite of visitors, because it allows you to visit the entire park, the colorful terraces and the decorative bastions. Ideal especially with little time available. With the full ticket (Palácio and Parque) you can also visit the interiors The PARQUE ticket costs €7.50 for adults aged 18 to 64, and €6.50 for children up to 17 and over 65. The Bilhete Família for 2 adults and 2 children costs €26. The PALACIO E PARQUE ticket costs €14 for adults aged 18 to 64, and €12.50 for children up to 17 and over 65. Hundertwasser House

SHOPPING  |  CONTACT  |  NEWS  |  SUBSCRIBE ENG   ITA   ESP ENG   ITA   ESP Hundertwasser House the most colorful & visited district of Vienna Hundertwasser House One of the most unique and unmissable places in Vienna is undoubtedly Hundertwasserhaus, or the Hundertwasser House. It is located in the eastern part of the capital, in the Landstraße district. This incredible social housing complex, built in 1986, strikes almost immediately with its striking hues, vibrant colors and smooth lines, devoid of any sharp edges. A series of truly incredible buildings, from the mind of Friedensreich Hundertwasser, brilliant and visionary Austrian architect. One of the most colorful places in Vienna. Over the years, the buildings of the Hundertwasser House have attracted more and more visitors, becoming a real attraction. Thus, a real center (The Hundertwasser village) was built next to the individual houses. Thanks to the presence of trees and shrubs on terraced balconies, the Hundertwasserhaus is a kind of green oasis in the heart of the city. The structure, today, is managed by the Municipality of Vienna which rents the 50 interiors to families with real needs and, above all, to nuclei such as at least one active individual, or with a strong interest in the contemporary artistic world. PRACTICAL INFO HOW TO GET The Hundertwasser House is located in Kegelgasse, just over 2 kilometers east of the center (Innere Stadt). Sports enthusiasts can even reach their destination on foot, walking for about half an hour. By public transport, you can use tram 1, getting off at the nearby Hertzgasse stop. WHAT TO DO AND SEE AT THE HUNDERTWASSER HOUSE Being inhabited by private individuals, it is only possible to visit the external area and not the interiors. On the other hand, you can visit the Hundertwasseer Village, created since 1990. Here, and in the immediate vicinity, numerous shops, bars, kiosks and cafes have sprung up over the years in the immediate vicinity. Even the toilets were created ad hoc, in perfect “Hundertwasser style”, with decorative ceramics, fountains and bright colors, making this environment pleasant too. TIMETABLES The Hundertwasserhaus can be admired at any time of day. Bars, shops and cafes have their own operating hours. SHOPPING  |  CONTACT  |  NEWS  |  SUBSCRIBE ENG   ITA   ESP ENG   ITA   ESP Dean Village in Edinburgh. What to do and see, how to get there Dean Village Dean Village literally means “Deep Valley”. In this place, centuries ago, among the water mills installed along the Leigh River, there were 11 factories that engaged in important commercial affairs. Right here, today, you can admire one of the most evocative areas in all of Edinburgh. A small jewel that seems to have come out of a tale of other times. A wonderful place where time seems to have stopped right at the time of the mills, among the mansions with colored facades of the nineteenth century, the ancient trees, the stones covered with moss. It seems to be catapulted into a little fairy tale. Or a Harry Potter tale. Still, it is within easy reach of Edinburgh city center. The village is truly enchanting. Romantic. The views are truly suggestive. A place to see and admire slowly, taking splendid walks. PRACTICAL INFO HOW TO GET TO DEAN VILLAGE The village, as mentioned, is located not far from the center, perfectly reachable on foot. From the Castle, and from Princess Street, it takes about 20 minutes. If you want to use public transport, you will find the nearest bus station at Drumsheugh Place (Stop QF). It is just over a 5-minute walk away. Lines 13, 19, 36, 37, 41, 43, 47, 47B pass through here. WHAT TO DO AND SEE IN THE SURROUNDINGS Admiring the charming Borgo is just one of the activities to do. The approximately 15km along the Water of Leight are undoubtedly a must when visiting Edinburgh’s Dean Village. In addition to the beautiful village, this beautiful green area bordering the river leads to beautiful places. After passing the Cemetery, you can reach, for example, the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art, and its beautiful and well-kept gardens. Open every day from 10:00 to 17:00. Oia Santorini

Oia

Colors of the world

SHOPPING  |  CONTACT  |  NEWS  |  SUBSCRIBE ENG   ITA   ESP ENG   ITA   ESP Oia, a beautiful village in Santorini. What to do and see, how to get there Oia Share on facebook Share on pinterest Share on twitter The colors of Greece. The colors of Santorini. And looking at Oia, a splendid village north of the island of Santorini, it couldn’t be otherwise. An absolutely magical, picturesque and decidedly fascinating place. Here, you can stroll through the splendid, narrow and labyrinthine alleys, extremely crowded, especially during the “hot” periods. Of course, there is no shortage of typical churches, with gleaming domes. Iá offers inspiration for numerous photographic shots: every alley, place, glimpse, takes on its own particular beauty: the houses with strange shapes, the suggestive chapels, the restaurants and the super luxurious hotels, with swimming pools overlooking the sea, almost excavated in the inside of the rocks. And its houses practically suspended in space. All this now belongs to the collective imagination. There is no leaflet, brochure, photo of Santorini that does not portray this beautiful village. Unlike Thira, despite the many tourists, Oia has always tried to maintain its appearance, at times almost snobbish. Here you will also find art galleries and shops of some importance. The village is also the favorite destination for tourists to wait for the sunset: they say that from here, it is the most beautiful. The Top is represented by the Londsa castle; you can get there on foot, from the alleys inside the center, until you reach the extreme tip of the town. Here, in fact, is the Venetian fortress now in ruins, and once the seat of the Argyri family under the Venetians. Also from here, you can admire almost the whole village with the mill, Thira and the Caldera. Obviously, it is very crowded, and if you want to avoid being paralyzed in a crowd, you must arrive at least one, or even two hours before the sun sets: only in this way you will have a front row seat! THE BEACH OF OIA With a descent of about 215 steps, or, alternatively, a more comfortable road that can be traveled by car, outside the town, you arrive at Ammoudi Bay, a small fishing port. Amoudi Bay is located within an inlet overlooking the caldera. Small, and enclosed by scenic red cliffs and picturesque buildings in the background: it is by far one of the most beautiful and evocative beaches on the island. Here there are several Taverns, where you can have lunch: Ammoudi Fish Tavern, Tavern Katina, Sunset Ammoudi or Dimitri Seafood. There is also a small marina, from which excursions to Thirasia depart. The nearby islet is beautiful with the Ekklisia Agios Nikolaos, a small church that is reflected on the crystal clear waters, reachable by sea. HOW TO GET TO OIA The village is located north of Thira, from which it is just over 10 kilometers away. It can be reached comfortably by car, scooter and quad along the panoramic road to Epar.Od. Firon-Ias. Journey time is around 25 minutes. There are several bends and curves and, above all, the lighting is almost totally absent for the most part. It is recommended to always use the utmost caution when driving on these roads.
