Amorgos is not a catalog island. Amorgos is not an island of tropical beaches. It does not have the reputation of Santorini or the entertainment of Mykonos. Nevertheless, it is really a magical and beautiful island. We are sure that you will have fun, and you will relax in spending a wonderful vacation in Amorgos.
VACATION IN AMORGOS: THE PLACES
OLYMPIA
How to begin to describe this island, if not paying homage to the one who made it famous in one of his films? Olympia is, by the way, the emblem of this island. Anyone who has seen Luc Besson’s “The Big Bleu” will certainly not remain indifferent to watching Olympia. The wreck, lying on the beach, is the one seen in the initial sequences of the director’s film. Olympia is located between the beautiful beaches of Kalotaritissa and Paradise Beach, in the south of the island.
PANAGIA HOZOVIOTISSA
Perched on a rock face, overlooking the sea, the monastery is a must during your vacations in Amorgos. This jewel of monastic architecture, dating back to the 11th century, was built to protect a sacred icon from the 9th century, currently on display. The whole building fits perfectly and harmoniously with the context. The chapel was even built inside a crevice in the rock.

Spectacular and absolutely stunning. One of those places without space and time. From the top of the monastery, you can enjoy a wonderful view; on particularly clear days, you can also admire Santorini!
To reach the place, you have to take a path with about 350 steps.
Obviously, it is recommended to wear appropriate clothing for the place, and avoid wearing only the costumes.
The monks who will welcome you are extremely hospitable. Open from 08:00 to 12:00 and from 17:00 to 19:00. Late afternoon or early morning are preferable times.
