Contrary to what you might think, you can move around Amorgos with comfortable and efficient buses. The scooter, the quad and the car are, however, the most congenial means to get around the island in peace.
GETTING AROUND AMORGOS BUS
The public tourist transport service is active from mid-May until the end of August. The Greek company KTEL manages the transport system, making connections to the main areas of the island, including, of course, the three villages. In July and August, at least one daily ride is guaranteed for some of the main beaches and the main places of interest. In addition, night-time rides are also guaranteed, coinciding with the arrival of some shipping companies at the port.

CAR AND SCOOTER
Given the conformation, the car is the best solution to getting around Amorgos. The island is crossed all along its length by a mountain range that culminates with Mount Krikelo, east of Egiali, which measures 823 m. The Prophet Elijah, located almost in the center, is a high mountain 698 m; to the south is Mount Korakas, with its 530 meters high. The streets, in Amorgos, with few exceptions, do not pass through the coast, but cross the mountains.
Obviously, we are not talking about exaggerated heights; however, we must take into account the many ascents (and descents), the hairpin bends and the fact that it is often windy. From Chora to Katapola, the distance is about 8 km; for Aegiali, you have to cover an almost double distance. The two ports, however, are about 25 km. It is, therefore, of non-prohibitive distances that can also be covered in mopeds and scooters. The choice of displacement is purely subjective. Keep in mind that driving a two-wheeler in Greece requires a driving license A. You could also opt for the scooter, using the bus to reach the beaches to the south of the island.
One of the weaknesses of the car is certainly the parking lot; especially in high season. Availability is very limited, near the center of the villages, and parking could be quite difficult.
