Getting around Amboise and Loire by car and bus. How to move on foot.

Getting around Amboise

Given the small size of the center, the best way for getting around Amboise is on foot. Furthermore, the distances are not even excessive, moving away from the Old City.

On foot, you can also move easily from the train station, which is just 500 meters from the renowned Chateau. Buses and, especially bikes, are valid solutions to cover medium/long-range distances.

All year round, from Monday to Sunday, a single bus line (Line 1) allows you getting around the center of Amboise, up to nearby Nazelles-Négron.
Line 1 is active from around 06:20 until 18 from Monday to Saturday, and from around 09 to 12 on Sundays.
The bus is perfectly accessible for people with reduced mobility and in wheelchairs.
Tickets can be purchased directly on board at a cost of € 0.80. Free for under 15s.

REMI CENTER-VAL DE LOIRE is a French company that manages interurban traffic between numerous areas of the Loire, with numerous regular lines passing through Indre-Et-Loire, Cher, Indre, Eure-Et-Loire and many others. Cities, castles and the main points of interest are crossed by the means of REMI. The latter, among other things, has come to the fore for having introduced the free school transport service!

Among the REGULAR lines that cross AMBOISE, there are the C line from Montrichard to Tours and the TA line from Amboise to Chateau Renault.
In Amboise, line C makes stops at Mini-châteaux, Pagode, Lycées, Hôpital D431, Théâtre> Choiseul and La Fuye> Haut Chandon. It is active from Monday to Saturday, from 06:40 to 18:40 from Amboise and from 06:55 to 19:20 from Tours. The stops of Pagode, Lycées, Hôpital D431 are accessible for people with reduced mobility and in wheelchairs.
The single ride ticket starts from € 3 per person.

A really comfortable and “eco-friendly” solution for getting around Amboise and the surrounding areas. The more trained, will have no difficulty in covering long distances crossing the suggestive Loire à Vèlo. It is a fantastic cycle route, which extends for 900 kilometers between castles, villages and suggestive landscapes. The route, well identified by special signs, will lead you to discover the beauties of this magical land.

In the city, you will find numerous agencies to rent your bike. At Quai du Général de Gaulle, you will find Detours de Loire Amboise which offers the possibility to rent a bike, and leave it in one of the agencies scattered throughout the area. The choice is wide enough, and the prices are competitive.
