Here is some important information if you have planned a flight with your children with Air France.
Please note that the rules may vary depending on the airline used. Those indicated below, only valid on Air France flights only. The company defines BABY as babies within 23 months of life. From 2 to 15 years old, on the other hand, are considered CHILDREN.
TICKETS
Babies up to 2 years of age travel in the arms of a parent or their companion. On all flights they will benefit from the special BABY RATE with a 90% discount on the standard rate. From the age of 2, children must purchase a ticket and occupy their own seat. The special CHILD RATE applies which provides a discount of up to 20% on short-haul flights, and up to 33% on medium and long-haul flights.
It is also possible for the baby to occupy a seat. In this case, the ticket must be purchased at the CHILD RATE.
An adult passenger can travel with two babies, one in his lap and one with a seat. In the latter case, he will have to sit on a special seat approved for weight and age. Tickets, in this case, must be purchased by telephone.
ONLINE CHECK-IN FOR CHILDREN WITH AIR FRANCE
Online check-in is also possible if you are traveling with your children with Air France. Air France allows you to book FREE SEATS for all family members up to 48 hours before departure. The important thing is that the reservation is unique for all members of the family. Also, children must not be over 14 years of age.
UNACCOMPANIED MINORS
Only children aged 4 or over can travel unaccompanied by adults for flights within metropolitan France; 5 years and older, on international flights
Children with Air France, under the age indicated above, must always be accompanied by an adult.
Kids Solo is the excellent service provided by the French company for children traveling alone. The staff will accompany the children and take care of their safety for the entire duration of the trip.
Children up to 11 on domestic flights, and 15 on international flights, must always be registered before travel. When booking, it must be specified that the minor is traveling alone. In this case, a special online form must be filled in: the “unaccompanied minor” travel dossier.
All unaccompanied minors will be constantly monitored by Air France staff.
LUGGAGE
Children with Air France, over 2 years of age, and babies with a seat, can carry one piece of hand baggage of the same weight and size as an adult.
Babies up to 2 years old, traveling in the lap of an adult, CAN BRING FREE one piece of baggage in the cabin, weighing up to 12 kg with dimensions no more than 55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm. Alternatively, they can carry one piece of luggage weighing up to 10 kg in the hold
In case you have purchased the ticket with LIGHT RATE, the hold baggage for the baby will be subject to a fee.
EQUIPMENT
Children aged 2 and 15 years of age can carry FREE of one of the following items, as well as hand baggage:
- lightweight folding stroller, with maximum dimensions of 15x30x100 cm,
- homologated car seat.
Some strollers can be accepted in the cabin, limited to the available seat. All strollers must, however, be folded up, and wrapped in a lining that covers them completely.
Other folding strollers, with maximum dimensions of 55x35x25 cm, can be transported in place of hand baggage.
OBJECTS BAGGAGE HAND LIST
Inside the carry-on baggage, do not forget to bring the following items for your little ones:
- Documents (card or passport, boarding pass, health card, visas, insurance policy).
- First Aid Kit (Thermometer, patches, essential drugs).
- Hygiene (diapers, wet wipes, handkerchiefs, cocoa butter, towel, cream).
- Foods, possibly at the ideal temperature, stored in a thermos. Do not forget the snack for your little ones.
- Toys, tablets, videogames, spare clothes.
The best way to counteract the effects of pressure changes is to use pacifiers or baby bottles during the flight.
TRANSPORTABLE AND SECURITY ITEMS
Baby food is allowed in the carry-on baggage, which is checked for baggage. There are no quantity limitations. 100 ml of boiled water can be brought on board, to be mixed with powdered milk. On board the plane, staff can heat bottles and food.
