Getting around Nice by public transport, taxi, bikes. Tickets prices and pass

Getting around Nice

In the center, you can easily get around on foot. Public transport and taxis, on the other hand, are an excellent solution for getting around Nice and reaching outlying districts and surrounding areas.

BIKES

With 175 rental stations in Nice, Cagnes sur Mer and St Laurent du Var, and an offer of over 1,700 bikes, Velobleu is an excellent solution for getting around Nice. Whether you are a regular or casual user.
Velobleu is an eco-friendly solution for getting around the city.
You will need to register using a card and your identity document, and choose the rental duration. Here are the prices:

  • 24h: €1.50.
  • 7 days: 5.00€.
  • 1 month: 10.00€.

At this flat rate, you will have to add the cost of renting the bike. The first 30 minutes are free. Up to a subsequent hour, you pay €1 and, subsequently, €2 per hour.

At a cost of €3 per day, however, you can unlock an electric bike. Free for the first half hour, then you pay €1.50 every 30′.

GETTING AROUND NICE BY TAXI TAXI

Getting around by taxi is quite expensive. The prices are in line with the Côte d’Azur and a simple transfer could cost you around €20.
From the airport to the center, the base rate of €35 is applied, plus any surcharges based on the time slot, luggage and more.

BUS AND TRAM

Getting around Nice

Lignes d’Azur offers efficient connections in the city and surrounding areas. They are ideal for getting around Nice and its neighboring towns, at all hours of the day.
The two tram lines, 1 and 2, cross the city center and, thanks to the low floor, are accessible for people with reduced mobility. Thanks to the low C02 emissions, they are low-polluting vehicles and certainly preferable to cars. With lines 2 and 3 you can also reach the international airport.

The buses are also particularly efficient, with higher frequencies than the tram. Urban lines connect the center and suburbs in a capillary way. With the extra-urban lines, however, you can easily reach other destinations on the French Riviera such as Cagnes-sur-Mer or Villafranca sul Mare.
The daytime lines generally run from early morning until around 9pm.

Even in the evening, until late in the day, you will have no trouble getting around Nice. Trams 1 and 2 running through the center run until 01:30 at night. Line 3, which also connects the airport, passing through the west of Nice, runs until 00:30 at night. The night service is guaranteed every day also on the bus lines 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, and 17, active until 01:30 at night.

TICKETS

To move around Nice by public transport, there are different types of tickets. Traveling is quite comfortable and not too expensive. It is always better to prefer public transport to the car because it is less polluting. Here are the tickets for the Nice public transport:

  • AZUR TICKET. Valid only for a trip on an urban route and a connection on departmental lines. It costs €1.50 per person.
  • ONLY – 1 TRAJET. Valid for a journey with connections within 74 minutes of validation. It does not apply to a return trip. It costs €1.50
  • MULTI 10 VOYAGES. Pass which, at a cost of €10.00, allows you to make 10 journeys on all urban lines, except special lines. Each trip also allows multiple connections, except for round trips, for a maximum duration of 74′ from the first validation. It can also be used by several people at the same time: always remember to validate the ticket for the number of people who use it.
  • PARCAZUR. Ticket that combines parking with public transport. With this special ticket you can leave your car at the large Parcazur car park in Nice, and make a return trip. All at a cost of only €3.
  • PASS 1 JOUR. It allows unlimited travel on the entire Ligne d’Azur urban network, except for special lines. It is valid 24 hours after validation and costs €5.00 per person.
  • PASS 7 JOUR. Same features as the day ticket, valid for 7 days from the first validation. It costs €15.00 per person.

Tickets can be purchased from automatic machines, merchants displaying the Company’s brand and directly from smartphones with the official app (iOS and Android). In this case, you simply have to download the app, accept the conditions and follow the rather simple on-screen instructions.

Please note that the rates are the same, both during the day and at night.
