HOW TO GET TO FORMENTERA
PLANE
Formentera does not have its own airport. Therefore, it can only be reached by sea. For those coming from abroad, the preferred method is to reach the nearby Ibiza by plane. The international airport of Ibiza is well connected, with direct flights, with the main European and extra-European destinations.
From the airport, you can also reach the port of Ibiza by public transport and from here, take the ferry to Formentera. The journey takes about 30 minutes.
Alternatively, you could consider the Barcelona or Valencia airport. From the latter, you must reach the city of Denia, about 100 kilometers away. In high season, there are daily links to Balearia to Formentera. The crossing time is about two and a half hours.
SHIP
The port Estacion Maritima La Savina is located in the north of the island and is particularly busy, being the only access point on the island. Above all in high season.
There are around 60 daily routes, with Spain, and the neighboring Balearic Islands. There are guaranteed connections with Denia and Barcelona, in Spain; Palma de Mallorca, Gandia, Ibiza and Playa d’en Bossa, in the Balearic Islands.
The durations of the crossings vary from 28 minutes on the ride to the nearby Ibiza, to over 7 hours to Palma de Mallorca. The connections are guaranteed by the shipping companies Balearic Islands, Trasmapi, Aqua Bus, Mediterranea Pitiusa and Trasmediterranea.
As it may be less touristy than Ibiza, it is always advisable to book your ferry with the pyre advance. In particular, if you were traveling with cars in tow. Prices increase dramatically as the departure date approaches.
From the Port, the 1 and 2 lines allow to reach different points of the Island. Tickets can be bought on board the driver. The price varies from a minimum of €1,80, to a maximum of €2,55 depending on the distance.
