Getting around Faro by bus, car, bikes. Info, guide, bus tickets

Getting around Faro

In Faro you move, quietly, on foot or by bike. The center is rather small and concentrated, which is why, if your holiday should be limited to a short stay, you will hardly use public transport. Except for moving from the airport to the center.

GETTING AROUND FARO BY BIKE

The Algarve, in general, is a region that invites visitors to use the bike. Faro, is crossed by the beautiful Ecovia Litoral do Algarve. In addition to moving around Faro, you can cross part of the 220 kilometers of cycle path along the Atlantic coast. An economical and above all eco-friendly way for getting around Faro.

In the center, you will have no difficulty in identifying the various agencies, ready to rent a bike.

The Portuguese Proximo, manages the public transport system of the city of Faro. Buses are extremely comfortable, fast and efficient and allow you to reach all points of the city and, of course, the most outlying areas.

The main station (Terminal Rodoviario), is located in the center, about 200 meters from the Central Railway Station, from which the Algarve Railway passes. By bus you can easily reach Faro International Airport.

The network consists of 9 Circuitos and 6 lines, active every day from morning until late evening.

CAR

The car is not a solution to consider when traveling to Faro. If the city is a stop on your road trip, we advise you to leave your car at your facility, and reach the center on foot or by public transport.

TICKETS

For getting around Faro by bus, you can buy the BILHETE DE BORDO. This is a ticket, valid for a single trip. You buy directly on board the vehicle. It costs 2.35€, to use one of the 6 LINHAS. With this ticket, for example, you can move from the airport to the center of Faro. On the 9 Circuitos, the ticket varies according to the route. In this case, you will find two areas, identified as Circuitos (Coroa); it costs 1.15€ (Coroa 1) or 1.78€ (Coroa 2) per person.

The BILHETE DIÁRIO, on the other hand, has a validity of 24 hours. It costs €5.30 per person and can be bought on board the vehicle. Only valid for vehicles in the Coroa 1 area.
